Building this site

I have been shipping other people's products for three and a half years and my own for the last six months, and until this week there was no single address that said so.

The constraint I built around is that I did not want to rebuild it. Portfolios rot because the work goes in as hand-written pages, and adding the next project means touching a layout. So projects and these notes are files. Adding work is dropping in a file; the pages already know what to do with it.

The second decision was about languages. The site ships in English, Amharic and Afaan Oromoo, but these notes are English only. Translating every post forever is exactly the recurring work I was trying to design out — better to be honest about that in one line than to let two thirds of the site quietly go stale.
